Fallen Soldier

The war in the Middle East hit home today when we got a call from Alan's parents telling us that Alan's cousin, Navy Lt. Jeff Ammon, was killed this morning by a roadside bomb. He left behind a wife and two sons. He had been in Afghanistan for about 14 months. We would get updates and pictures from him about once a month about life over there and what it is like. He was a wonderful man and will be missed.
I am very grateful to him and to all military personnel that have fought so that I can feel safe and not live in fear. I am very grateful for my freedom and for the brave men and women who have died so that I can be free. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have had loved ones affected by this war.

I am so sorry to hear that. My brother-in-law is in Iraq right now, and it is a scary thing. I hope Lt. Ammon's wife and kids, and all those with loved ones serving, know how much we appreciate what they do for our country.

Although I don't personally know anyone in Iraq right now, I always quickly get emotional when I read about things like this. I can't help but think of the families and the pain they are going through, it just rips me apart inside just thinking about it. I am soo grateful for all the soldiers sacrificing for all of us, I just wish that we could all get along :)

Rebecca,
I am so sorry to hear this tragic story. May God bless and watch over his young son and wife who lost their father and husband way too soon. I am sending my prayers. At least he died for a cause be believed in and that means it will never be in vain. Pass on to Alan my sympathy. Much love from ABQ.

Rebecca, I'm so sorry for your loss. It always makes me so emotional to hear about the casualties in Irag and Afghanistan, but it is heart-breaking to actually know a little family was left behind. We will keep them in our prayers.

How sad for all of us, especially for his and your family. I am grateful indeed for the men and women who put themselves in harm's way to serve our country. My brother will be deployed next year to Afghanistan -- I am already afraid.
