Amazing Things Happen Daily

especially in the Laurel Ward!
I was given an assignment to write a paragraph describing what the Laurel Ward Relief Society had accoplished for 2006. It was hard to fit everything into one paragraph. What amazing women I work with! But more importantly what amazing women support the efforts of the Relief Society! So here is my Paragraph, kind of lengthy but it speaks of the wonderful women that I associate with daily.
"The Laurel Ward Relief Society was able to accomplish quite a bit this past year, from averaging over 70% Visiting Teaching to providing for the needs of those not only in our ward but also in our community. This year we really focused on reaching out to the community so that we would know them and they could know us. On Valentines day we had a sweet experience of serving dinner to a group of homeless men who are part of the Winter Haven program. During the summer months we started a group named, Women of Faith an Interfaith Humanitarian Project. We contacted 56 Churches in the Laurel Area. To which only one replied who ended up deciding not to join with us. We decided to press forward! We ended up making 42 blankets, 78 hygiene kits, 25 cleaning kits, and collecting school supplies, baby supplies, and winter supplies. Which we were able to donate to LARS a local agency for the homeless or near-homeless. In August we had a wonderful experience of going to the Temple as a Ward to do baptisms for the dead most of the sisters were endowed, but there were a couple of these women who had never had the opportunity to be a proxy for baptisms, we were grateful to be able to provide these types of opportunities. In October we were able to have our annual Super Saturday where the women of the Laurel Ward as well as friends and neighbors come and participate in making crafts and enjoying the company of other women. In November we were able to collect enough food for 18 Thanksgiving dinner that were donated to people in the Laurel community. In December we had an Angel Tree that helped families and individuals that would benefit from receive gifts for Christmas. We ended up giving over 70 gifts. We ended the year with being able to serve lunch to the missionaries at the Temple Visitor Center from the generosity of our ward members. The women in the Laurel Ward have really reached out with the hearts and hands always being ready and willing to serve. What a blessing it has been for us to witness the out pouring of Christ like love to not only those in our congregation but to those in the community."

Way to go Laurel Ward Relief Society!! I love these women!
