Today started the 2008-2009 school year for Hannah, Peter, and Joseph. I couldn't believe that they are all in school. Everything went without a hitch other than their bus being 20 minutes late. When they got off the bus, mom was there with all the extra bags of school supplies.
Hannah (4th Grade) rolled her eyes and said, "I need to go" and promptly walked off.
Peter (1st Grade) looked lost and bewildered.
Joseph (Pre-K) just kept walking even though he had no idea where to go.
Joseph and I helped Peter find his teacher (for some reason the 1st graders met in the lunch room). Joseph asked when lunchtime was and where he would eat it. Silly kid! Once we found where Joseph went he got a little shy and nervous. I stayed and talked with his teacher for a minute and gave her all of his school supplies. When I left, Joseph was in a little rocking chair reading a book. He looked so little to be leaving him all day.
It was so quiet...almost too quiet. Maybe I should do something about that!?
Joseph admitted that the bus is a little scary, because it goes so fast. He loved his teacher (Ms. Scepura) and liked all of the boys and girls in his class even though he can't remember their names. Hannah loves her teacher (Mr. Haslup) and is very excited to be back in school. And Yes she had homework today!! (something I am not looking forward to.) Hannah did have one upset today. She started crying because she was really worried that Joseph and Peter wouldn't know what bus to get on because it was the blue bus and not the lime bus that they had last year. (They use colors instead of numbers to identify which bus is which.) What a good big sister!! Peter had a really good day! He really liked his teacher (Mrs. Moran) and there were some kids that he knew from his kindergarten class in his new class. Although his best friend Matthew isn't in his class, he still got to play with him at recess. In fact, Peter was so pleased, he told us at first he couldn't find Matthew at recess and was going to do something else but then Matthew found Peter. Nothing warms my heart more than to know that Peter has found a friend. The greatest part about today is that everyone is excited to go back tomorrow!!

Wow, I can't believe you have three in school. I guess I didn't realize Joseph was that old! What a cute big sister worry about her brothers. I can see Makenzie being like that when Jake goes to school. Congrats on the great first day! They are so cute.
I love the 1st day of school stories! It must be the teacher inside of me, but I love the excitement and the newness that it brings. Good job Hannah, Peter, and Joseph on your 1st day of school! Only 179 to go.
Wow! THREE at school! (Okay, I know Joseph's in pre-K, but still...) They all look so excited and new-clothes-ish!
Pre-K! I'm totally jealous! I wish they had that for Evan. He is constantly asking me when he gets to go to school.
What cute kids you have!! They make me smile! School Rules!
They are all so cute!! The first day of school always makes me sad. I just don't like to let go.
It's a good thing that you've got your sweet Eden to keep things hoppin' around the house!
I loved your pictures and the account of the children going to school! It seems so impossible they are growing up. The pictures were adorable! Little Joseph reading that book. I am so glad that Peter enjoyed his first day and found his old friend. Hannah looks so grown up. I love you all so much, and thank you for keeping us updated with pictures and news about what is going on.
Dad and I miss you all very much.
